Honors

Dr. Cronin served as President of the Houston Society of Plastic Surgeons (1993-1994), President of the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons (2009-2010), and as Chief of Staff of St. Joseph Hospital my primary hospital (2002-2004). He served as head of the plastic surgery section at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston for over a decade.

During his practice years he  was  honored to belong to the following professional organizations:


Dr. Cronin was privileged to know the dapper Marvin Zindler, a television consumer advocate and celebrity in Houston for decades. Zindler accompanied Operation San Jose medical mission trips to Latin America on several occasions.

Dr. Cronin  was pleased to be asked to be one of “Marvin’s Angels”, and took care of several needy patients whom Zindler brought to Dr. Cronin's practice in Houston over the years. Therefore, Dr. Cronin was delighted when, on March 1st, 2000, on the KPRC TV channel in Houston, Marvin Zindler said: “Dr. Cronin is one of the finest plastic surgeons in the country.”

Awards

Dr. Cronin received the first-place award for a scientific exhibit entitled “Reconstruction of the Breast after Mastectomy” at the 113th annual session of the Texas Medical Association in Houston in 1980 .

Hospital Universitario, Arequipa, Peru, gave instructional course on facial reconstruction.  Received medal of honor and diploma of honor.  January, 1995.

Recipient of the Colegio Medico Del Peru and Consejo Regional V Recognition Award for Medical Mission to Peru.  March 29, 2000.

Selected by Plastic Surgery Residents “Outstanding Surgical Teaching” for July 2001-June 2003.

The Shalom Center of the Diocese of Galveston Houston presented Dr. Cronin the  Irish Houstonian of the Year Award in 1995. 

The Southern Dominicans presented his family the St. Martin de Pores Award for Service to the Church, Family Values, and Medical Care for the Indigent in 1995.

Dr. Cronin received a Jefferson Award presented by Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (a lovely lady!) in 1998, in Washington DC. 

The Association of Operating Room Nurses of Greater Houston  honored him with the Distinguished Surgeon Award, presented by at their first Triple Star Gala in 1998 at a dinner with the former  president, George H. W. Bush.   

 In 2003, the Helping Hands Medical Mission organization presented Dr. Cronin with The Dawn of Hope Award. 

The Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons voted him an award for best member paper at the 2004 annual meeting of the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons.

In 2011, at a Houston Texan game in NRG Stadium,  Dr. Cronin was recognized as Hometown Hero -Outstanding Volunteer by Halliburton  Corp.

 Dr. Cronin was elected by the governing board of his alma mater to the St. Thomas High School Hall of Honor in 2012.

 In 2013, Dr. Cronin and his  wife, Candy, were the Legacy Award recipients of the Christus Foundation for Healthcare at a luncheon reception with Regis Philbin. 

Finally, the plastic surgery residents voted Dr. Cronin  the 2016 Methodist Hospital Plastic Surgery Residency Teaching Award, which he received at the resident graduation ceremony, shortly after his early retirement and cancer diagnosis.
